Description
A Guide to Birding with Binoculars
Designed as a multi-purpose outdoor optic, the Meade Instruments 8×42 CanyonView ED Binoculars feature anti-reflection fully multi-coated high-performance extra-low dispersion glass that delivers crisp, true-color wide views of breathtaking landscapes, vistas, or cityscapes. Phase-corrected and dielectric-coated BAK4 roof prisms maximize light transmission through the prism system, limiting internal diffraction and interference and improving image resolution and contrast. The 42mm objectives boost the low-light performance without making the binoculars too large or cumbersome, so you can easily carry them all day on the trail, in the field, or when sightseeing around the world.
Complementing their optical performance is a lightweight housing that is nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to make them waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when you move through extreme changes in temperature or environmental conditions. The body features an ergonomic design with rubber armor and strategically placed dimpling that offers a secure hold and a pleasant handling experience, with the large center focusing knob providing smooth adjustments. To help you with focusing and correcting for dioptric differences, the focus knob and the diopter ring are knurled and can be easily adjusted even when wearing gloves. Ideal for fast glassing on the go, the CanyonView comes with tethered caps that won’t get lost when you’re out and about and a shoulder harness integrated into their case that prevents them from swaying and swinging if you need to climb over rough and rocky terrain.

Optical Performance
Moderate 8x magnification brings subjects in close for viewing without narrowing the field of view and exit pupil or shortening the eye relief, greatly improving viewing comfort
Use and Handling
Short closed-bridge configuration provides a stable platform for the internal focusing mechanism
Construction Details
Short bridge design offers more surface area to grip, despite the short length, for improved handling
